Attorney Petow was formerly a Staff Attorney in the Office of Hearings and Appeals/Office of Disability Adjudication and Review of the Social Security Administration, Boston, Massachusetts District, Region I.

Attorney Petow earned a bachelor’s degree in history at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, a master’s in education at Suffolk University in Boston and her law degree at New England Law School, Boston.

If Social Security forms were not completed in detail as the book recommends, the missing detail can be filled in during the claimant’s hearing testimony. Proper preparation for the hearing level would require that the representative be familiar with the content of all the forms already filed. See 1996 SSR LEXIS 4, 15-16, SSR 96-7p, on the adjudicator’s affirmative duty to compare the claimant’s statements.

As noted in Chapter 7, much of the testimony at the hearing level will be answering questions similar to Questions 5 and 6 on Form 3373.
